Across Africa, millions of women and children still face barriers to essential healthcare, including long travel distances, limited facilities, and shortages of medical professionals. RMI is working to change that by partnering with local communities to build sustainable, locally led healthcare solutions that improve access and create healthier futures for generations to come

The Problem
A crisis hiding in plain sight
Africa bears a disproportionate share of the world's maternal and newborn deaths. Seventy percent of global maternal deaths and fifty-five percent of all under-five child deaths occur on the continent — the vast majority preventable with access to basic primary healthcare. Poverty, distance, and a lack of health infrastructure leave millions of women and children without the care they need at the most critical moments of their lives.

Our Story
The Story Behind Our Name
In 1923, Rose Maison lost one of her twin babies to pregnancy and childbirth-related complications. The surviving twin, Henrietta, is lived more than a century. Yet today, many women across Africa continue to face similar challenges accessing life-saving maternal healthcare. Rose Maison International was founded to honor her legacy by ensuring that future generations of women and children have access to the healthcare they need to survive and thrive. Our mission is rooted in a simple belief:
“No woman or child should suffer or die because healthcare is out of reach.”
